Why is KISS the largest graphic in this section? Because it is one of my favorite mottos.  It works in web design, consulting, training, and I will let you in on a little secret: It works in life!

If you have never heard of this acronym, then let me define it quickly.  The letters KISS stand for "Keep It Simple Stupid."  If you like, I am sure that you could substitute other words that may sound a little more pleasant, but then you and I might miss the point.

Life is complex. If you polled a hundred individuals and asked them if they would like to make their life more complicated, how many would say yes? Only the foolish ones! And that is why stupid is part of the acronym. None of us want to complicate our lives. But we do.

How many of us have gone out and bought a new gadget to help simplify our life? Only to find out that we have spent hours trying to figure out its functions (not to mention the hours we worked to get the item.) The computer I am using is such a tool. If we accept the idea that someone can help us learn how to use this tool more efficiently, then we have eliminated some possible frustration.

I'm sure that you give yourself credit for being an intelligent person. I am no different. But acknowledging that others know more can be beneficial. Finding the right person is also a key. After all, those TV commercials that humorously state, "No, I am not a Doctor, but I stayed in a..." wouldn't be so funny if we didn't acknowledge that others can help us, if they are qualified.

I can help make computers, software and web design seem simpler. But only up to a point. I need your help. If you are willing to learn, then I am willing to assist you. Then together we can say, "Keep it simple!"
